A Los Angeles police officer fatally shot a man Thursday night after he tried to choke another officer, authorities said.
The officers were responding to a report of a family dispute about 8:45 p.m. in the 5200 block of Huntington Drive in El Sereno when they were confronted by the man, who fought with one of the officers, said Jason Lee, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man choked the officer, Lee said, prompting his partner to fire at the attacker.
The injured officer was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition.
