Letting Burns off easy

How can a documentarian such as Ken Burns claim his work is “never designed to be authoritative”? [“Truth, the Franchise” by Robert Lloyd, Aug. 5]
More important, how can a television critic accept that as an explanation?
Lloyd also erred in dismissing the content of Mr. Burns’ jazz and baseball documentaries -- both of which ignored significant Latino contributions. I will give Burns the benefit of the doubt and say he is limited and narrow in his vision. Or maybe he is just incomplete or biased -- or both. All are deficiencies for a documentarian.
