Refuse to fly the unfriendly skies

Re “Airline service experiencing a bumpy ride,” Feb. 8
The airlines are doing what they are supposed to be doing: filling planes and making money. So says aviation consultant Michael Boyd. But not with my money.
When it comes to customer service, I characterize this shoddy industry with the words “indifference,” “incompetence,” “arrogance” and “unfriendliness.” The only recourse that consumers have is to cease patronizing this industry whenever it’s the least bit feasible. It is our moral responsibility to seek alternative forms of transportation. This means less exotic vacations and longer transit times, but, hopefully, one of two scenarios occurs: Either the airlines give way to the necessity to win back patrons, or the industry in its present, unacceptable form collapses.
