* Philadelphia 4, at New York 2 (11 innings): Chase Utley hit a leadoff homer in the 11th inning off Pedro Feliciano and had three RBIs. Utley’s homer was the first Feliciano (1-1) has given up this season.
* at Atlanta 3-1, Florida 1-5: Rick Vanden Hurk took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and the Marlins beat the Braves for a split of the doubleheader. Atlanta won the opener with Buddy Carlyle winning his first game since 1999 by giving up only one hit over seven innings. Carlyle was optioned to triple-A Richmond after the game.
* at Milwaukee 7, Chicago 5: Ryan Braun, Corey Hart and Tony Graffanino hit solo home runs and the Brewers handed the Cubs their first loss in three games since Manager Lou Piniella was suspended.
* at St. Louis 4, Cincinnati 3: Pinch-hitter So Taguchi singled over a drawn-in outfield in the ninth inning for his second consecutive game-winning hit. The Cardinals won for the fifth time in six games without catcher Gary Bennett, who left in the second inning with what was described as a bruise to the back of the skull after he was hit by a pitch.
* Houston 4, at Colorado 1: Luke Scott had three hits for the Astros, including a two-run homer in the ninth at Denver. The benches briefly cleared in the ninth when Manny Corpas pitched behind Carlos Lee. Phil Garner joined Lance Berkman in the clubhouse when he was ejected for arguing with umpire Ed Rapuano that Corpas should have been punished.
* Pittsburgh 7, at Washington 6: Xavier Nady hit a double and a sacrifice fly, both with the bases loaded, and Shawn Chacon got his first win as a starter this season.
* at Arizona 4, San Francisco 3 (10 innings): Chris Young homered to left-center with one out in the 10th inning, lifting the Diamondbacks to their 10th win in 11 games.
* at San Diego 1, Dodgers 0: Trevor Hoffman moved within one save of becoming the first big leaguer with 500.
