Three people were killed Wednesday evening in a pair of unrelated shootings, one in East Los Angeles and the other in Compton, authorities said.
A man and a woman died in the East Los Angeles incident, which the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating as a murder-suicide, Det. Joe Romero said. The case was reported about 7:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Woods Avenue.
The Compton killing, Romero said, apparently was a drive-by shooting. It brings the number of fatal shootings in the area to five in the last five days.
According to Romero, two suspects drove up to two men walking in the 700 block of South Long Beach Boulevard about 6:30 p.m. and fired at them. One of the pedestrians was struck; he died at a hospital. His companion escaped injury.
Authorities did not provide the victims’ names.
