What happened to airport security?

Re “Arrests made in alleged JFK plot,” June 3
I think we need to address why we have terrorists or terrorist organizations within our hemisphere. We have managed to alienate people in our own backyard. This is a dangerous precedent that should not be overlooked.
The Monroe Doctrine stated that we oversee this hemisphere, yet we have failed, allowing the doctrine to become nothing more than an empty policy.

So much for the Republican mantra: “If we don’t fight them over there, we’ll have to fight them over here.” Thanks to the Bush administration’s foreign policy, they’re already here.

The questions I have regarding the alleged JFK plot: In 2007, does a baggage handler have access to security at airports? Six years after 9/11, how were the suspected JFK plotters able to take photographs in secure areas? Why is there no undercover government agent involved in the plot, only undercover criminals? If jet fuel at airports is a vulnerable target, why have we given this information via a news conference to the world?
