ENDORSEMENTS are listed in the order in which races appear on the ballot.
Los Angeles City Council
Voters in the city’s seven even-numbered City Council districts and in District 7 will cast ballots. Incumbents in Districts 2, 4, 8, 10 and 12 are running unopposed except for some write-in campaigns; The Times offers no endorsements in any of those races. A special election is being held in District 7 to complete the term of Alex Padilla, who was elected to the state Senate last year.
The Times recommends:
District 6: Tony Cardenas
District 7: Monica Rodriguez
District 14: Jose Huizar
Los Angeles Community
College District
Voters who reside in the district, which includes and extends beyond the city of Los Angeles, will cast ballots for all four at-large seats.
The Times recommends:
Seat No. 1: Sylvia Scott-Hayes
Seat No. 3: Mona Field
Seat No. 5: Georgia L. Mercer
Seat No. 7: Warren T. Furutani
Los Angeles Unified School District
Board of Education
Voters will cast ballots in the odd-numbered districts, some of which extend beyond the boundaries of the city of Los Angeles.

District 3: Louis Pugliese
District 5: Yolie Flores Aguilar
District 7: Richard Vladovic
