GOP Reps. Mary Bono of California and Connie Mack of Florida announced their engagement Friday after dating for two years.
Mack proposed a week ago on a camping trip in Arches National Park in Utah, said Frank Cullen Jr., Bono’s chief of staff.
Bono, 45, was married to singer-turned-politician Sonny Bono, who died in a 1998 skiing accident, and replaced him in Congress after a special election. She represents Palm Springs and parts of the Inland Empire.
Mack, 40, is divorced. He is the son of the Florida senator of the same name and great-grandson of the Hall of Fame baseball manager.
No wedding date has been set.
