If the current election doesn’t offer sufficient thrills, check out the Aero Theatre’s Paranoia and Conspiracy: Political Thrillers, continuing tonight with John Frankenheimer’s 1962 masterpiece “The Manchurian Candidate,” starring Frank Sinatra, right. William Richert’s underrated 1979 chiller “Winter Kills” and 1973’s “Executive Action” are Saturday’s double bill; Richert will be on hand to discuss “Winter.” And two of Alan J. Pakula’s best conspiracy flicks, 1976’s “All the President’s Men” and 1974’s “The Parallax View,” are on Sunday (aerotheatre.com). . . . The UCLA Film and Television Archive and the Visual Effects Society present the nominees for the 6th annual VES awards Saturday at the Billy Wilder Theater. On Monday, the archive and Outfest offer the 25th anniversary screening of Lizzie Borden’s seminal “Born in Flames,” which Borden will attend ( www.cinema.ucla.edu). . . . The Silent Movie Theatre delivers a gem on Saturday: director Jack Smight’s 1968 “No Way to Treat a Lady,” in which Rod Steiger has a field day as a master-of-disguise serial killer of women (silentmovietheatre.com).
