Man, 61, dies after being hit by bus

A Metro bus struck and killed a 61-year-old man Saturday night, police said.
James David Harley III of Los Angeles was crossing Hillcrest Avenue on his way home about 8 p.m. when he was struck by a bus turning right from Santa Rosalia Drive onto Hillcrest, a Los Angeles Police sergeant said. The intersection has traffic signals and is in a well-lighted residential area, the sergeant said. Harley is believed to have been walking alone outside of the crosswalk.
Harley was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where he was declared dead of blunt trauma at 8:30 p.m., the sergeant said.
