A man accused of participating in a brutal kidnapping and murder scheme involving the slayings of five Southern California businessmen was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in federal prison, authorities said.
Aleksejus Markovskis was accused of standing guard at a posh Sherman Oaks home where the victims were held. Their bodies were later dumped in the New Melones Reservoir near Sonora, Calif.
Markovskis did not participate in the killings. He cooperated with federal authorities and testified in two trials of other members of the crime ring, said Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office.
