Re “Surprised by phone law reception,” July 2
On July 1, the first day of enforcement of the state’s new hands-free cellphone law, I was walking to work in the morning. I saw a lady driving rather quickly, talking animatedly on her hands-free cellphone and gesticulating wildly with both hands (rather than holding the steering wheel at all).
Thank goodness for the hands-free law. Without that, she would have been able to gesticulate wildly with only one hand (the other holding the phone), and half of her emphasis and meaning would have been lost. What is that round thing in front of the driver’s seat anyway?
