Grade-schoolers in Bear territory

SCOTT COLLINS’ article about Bear Grylls [“In the Wilds (Sorta) With Bear Grylls,” June 22] gave me my laugh for the day.
I have been taking groups of 10 to 15 first- to fourth-grade students into Franklin Canyon since I retired 22 years ago. I have yet to see where Bear Grylls could find his exciting challenge for the Discovery Channel. I spend my time with the children showing them how benign (and how much fun) the outdoors is and to enjoy it.
