Starbucks Corp. will cut almost 1,000 more jobs and abolish a top executive position as the coffee chain seeks to reverse slumping sales.
Chief Operating Officer Martin Coles will be president of Starbucks Coffee International, replacing Jim Alling, who is leaving the company.
The Seattle company said this month it would close 600 U.S. stores and eliminate as many as 12,000 positions, or 7% of the workforce.
