A Honduran court has sentenced 22 soldiers and police officers to a combined 740 years in prison for the massacre of 69 people during a prison riot.
The maximum prison sentence in Honduras is 30 years.
The 2003 riot at El Porvenir prison started with a clash between gang members and other inmates. The gang members used chairs and tables to block an entrance as fellow inmates hurled rocks and other objects at them. Guards then began shooting. Those killed included two visiting women and a baby.
The deaths were originally blamed on inmates, but an investigation later discovered guards had been responsible.
