Irish carrier to suspend LAX service

Aer Lingus warned that record-high fuel prices would force it to suspend service to Los Angeles International Airport in November.
“Based on current fuel prices and the uncertain economic outlook, we expect, at best, to break even for the year 2008,” Chairman John Sharman said.
The Dublin, Ireland-based airline will keep its other long-haul routes to U.S. cities under review, Sharman said -- a stunning U-turn after this year’s launch of routes to San Francisco, Washington and Orlando, Fla.
