Korea concert to air Sunday

KCET officials have decided to broadcast this week’s New York Philharmonic concert in North Korea sooner rather than later, meaning Sunday afternoon at 5.
An executive at the Los Angeles public TV station had said Wednesday that logistics precluded its televising the concert, which was aired live around the world, from being shown any earlier than May.
“But when we looked at Sunday’s schedule, we realized we did have a repeat in the 5-to-7 p.m. period,” Mary Mazur, KCET executive vice president of programming and production, said Friday. “We decided that taking out a repeat in that period wouldn’t be as egregious as taking out an original program.”
Mazur had said earlier that “people get very angry when we change our schedule.”
In addition to the 5 p.m. Sunday slot, KCET will repeat the broadcast over its digital channel 28 HD at 7 and 11 p.m. Sunday; 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and 12:30 and 5 p.m. on March 8.
Mazur said the program would also be shown in May on a date to be announced.
