Bruins to find out whether they can do better against Rodgers
- Share via
UCLA won’t play in the Rose Bowl game this season, but the Bruins can have a say about who does. Oregon State needs to win out to secure its first January date in Pasadena since 1965. A look at some issues surrounding today’s game:
Pop quiz: USC flunked its Oregon State quiz, letting running back Jacquizz Rodgers run wild. UCLA has a good defense that would look better if it wasn’t always on the field.
On their shoulders: Kevin Craft has tested the Bruins’ patience, but he’s healthy. Oregon State will probably be subbing one sore-shouldered passer for the other.
Far side: If Beavers defensive end Slade Norris puts UCLA’s left tackle on his Baca, it could be a long day for the Bruins.
Running low: Oregon State has given up rushing yardage, but is the Bruins’ ground game poised to capitalize?
Happy returns: Good news: UCLA’s Terrence Austin is really good at running back kickoffs. Bad news: He gets lots of practice.
