Leading contributors: San Diego-bound Chris Manresa, a 6-foot-8 center, scored 14 points, had 10 rebounds and six blocks for Tesoro. Mason Mageo made four three-pointers. Tim Benedix scored 18 points for Capistrano Valley.
The scoop: Tesoro survived six consecutive missed free throws in the final 56 seconds and overcame a 10-point third-quarter deficit.
Why it matters: Tesoro, ranked No. 3 in Southern Section Division I-A, picked up an important road victory in its bid to win the South Coast League.
