About 3 a.m., a 30-year-old man driving a Ford Explorer began traveling north on the southbound side of California 14 near Santiago Road in Acton, according to the California Highway Patrol.
About three minutes later, the Explorer sideswiped the first car, leaving its driver with moderate injuries, and then struck a 2006 Nissan Murano, killing its driver, authorities said.
