Santana proves too much for Phillies

Associated Press

Johan Santana gave up two hits and struck out 10 batters in seven innings, and the New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 1-0, on Wednesday night.

In their first visit to the Mets’ new ballpark, the Phillies wasted an excellent performance from starter Chan Ho Park, who gave up one hit in six shutout innings.

Santana (4-1) lowered his earned-run average to 0.91 and won 1-0 for the second time in six starts this year. He struck out at least 10 for the third time.
