Al Michaels serves as the play-by-play announcer and Cris Collinsworth provides the color commentary for tonight’s
San Diego at Pittsburgh game
(5:15 p.m., Channel 4):
Michaels says ...
The Steelers haven’t been able to run the ball. They got away with it last year, but sooner or later that’s going to come back to hurt you. And it has over the past couple of weeks. They let the Bears hang in, they let the Bengals hang in, now they come home with a 1-2 record and all of a sudden this game becomes a lot more important. If Baltimore wins and Pittsburgh loses, you’re looking at a team that’s three games back already.
Collinsworth says ...
San Diego has really changed. They were so focused on LaDainian Tomlinson for so long, but this has become Philip Rivers’ team. They are a deep-passing, big-play kind of team. It makes me think a little bit at some of the games Tom Brady’s had against Pittsburgh. If you’re going to beat this team, sometimes you’ve got to beat them with big plays. Vincent Jackson has certainly become one of the top receivers in the game to go along with Antonio Gates. Darren Sproles is such an explosive player. So there are a lot of offensive weapons, even if LT can’t play.”
