Major insurers react to the Supreme Court ruling

Blue Shield of California, the large nonprofit insurer that supported the federal healthcare law early on, said it was pleased with the Supreme Court’s ruling upholding the Affordable Care Act.
“As strong supporters of healthcare reform, we will continue to advocate for full and effective implementation of the law while seeking additional ways to make coverage more affordable,” the company said in a statement.
Aetna Inc., another major insurer, said it’s prepared for the changes ahead in the market and it intends to fully comply with the law’s new requirements.
“At the same time, we know that much more must be done to fix the problems that remain in our healthcare system,” Aetna said in a statement. “We believe there is still time -- if people can come together in a bipartisan way -- to improve quality and affordability. That security is what Americans want and need.”
