Romantic Sherman Oaks hacienda was once home to legendary actress Mae West

A Sherman Oaks home where Hollywood actress and sex symbol Mae West once lived has come on the market for $1.1 million.

Tucked behind hedges and fences, the Spanish-hacienda-style home dates to 1937, about five years after West made her first motion picture appearance in “Night After Night.”

White-painted brick walls, vaulted and beamed ceilings and arched doorways are among features of the home, which has three bedrooms. Vintage and mosaic tile create visual interest in the hallways and two bathrooms.

The 1,596-square-foot interior also holds a step-up dining room, an eat-in kitchen and a family room with a wood-burning fireplace.

French doors open to a shaded veranda and a brick-rimmed swimming pool. Mature pine trees, palms and lawn fill out the roughly 6,000-square-foot lot.

The property most recently changed hands more than a decade ago for $800,000, real estate records show.

West, who died in 1980 at 87, is remembered for her memorable lines and film roles in “She Done Him Wrong” (1933), “Klondike Annie” (1936) and “I’m No Angel” (1933). In addition to her appearances in film and stage productions, the blond seductress also wrote much of her own material.
