Oscar-winner Julia Roberts (“Erin Brockovich”) will receive the Spotlight Award for her performance in the upcoming “August: Osage County” at the 25th Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.
Roberts, who plays the oldest daughter of Meryl Streep in the adaptation of the Tony Award-winning play, will receive the award at the gala ceremony on Jan. 4 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
“Julia Roberts is a consummate actress with range as vast as her talent,” said festival chairman Harold Matzner in a statement Friday. “In her latest, ‘August: Osage County,’ she is a key catalyst in a darkly comedic tale of a family coming back together after tragedy strikes.”
