Hollywood Headlines: A crazy week in review
Social media can foster odd friends and even odder enemies. Deadmau5 and Madonna recently got into it on Twitter. But the oddest Twitter fight pair in recent memory may be CNN anchor Don Lemon and Jonah Hill, star of “21 Jump Street.” The fight began Thursday night when Lemon took to his Twitter feed and announced, “Said hi to @jonahhill in hotel. Think he thought i was bellman. Didn’t know his name til bellman told me. A lesson to always be kind.” According to several reports, Hill responded with a tweet that he has since deleted: “@DonLemonCNN I said hi what do you want me to do move in with you? I was in a hurry. Didn’t realize you were a 12 year old girl. Peace.”

Will Lindsay Lohan be charged with lying to the cops regarding her Porsche-vs.-big rig crash on Pacific Coast Highway? Only time -- and the Santa Monica city prosecutor -- will tell. A Santa Monica police investigation has determined that Lohan was driving the car at the time of the June crash, which contradicts what she told police after the accident, The Times’ L.A. Now reports. While Lohan reportedly told authorities she wasn’t behind the wheel, her assistant told police he was the one riding shotgun, while the big rig driver said he saw the actress in the driver’s seat, according to TMZ.

Who says Justin Bieber isn’t the luckiest 18-year-old in the world? He’s coming down from performing at the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Wednesday, where his set was merely part of an event heavily laden with gorgeous “angels” parading around in winged lingerie ensembles. “that was a great rehearsal. #VSFashionShow :),” he tweeted Tuesday, adding the hashtag, “#notcomplaining.” Not surprisingly, he said on the red carpet that the show was like a good dream come true. Also in the lineup, in addition to Bruno Mars, was Rihanna, who on the red carpet shared her plans to “torque an extra hip,” suck in her “extra stomach” — really? — and arch her back a little more to compete with the models who’d be with her as she performed.

Britney Spears, who last week saw a nasty defamation and breach of contract lawsuit against her family and conservators tossed out for lack of evidence, is reportedly in talks with a HarperCollins imprint to pen a novel based on events in her own life. Her rep confirmed “discussions” to the Hollywood Reporter, which first had the news. Spears’ journey from child star to international superstar to reality-TV judge, with that major meltdown somewhere in the middle, seems ample fodder for at least one book, if not a trilogy, saga or pop-culture/tabloid encyclopedia.

Kirstie Alley’s new book is called “The Art of Men,” and the way she’s been talking lately, Ms. Alley seems to have been quite the artist. Alley, currently competing for a second time on “Dancing With the Stars” with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, has revealed her love for two stars who caught the eye of many a woman of a certain age back in the day: the late Patrick Swayze and John Travolta. She says she didn’t have a sexual affair with Swayze, as both she and he were married to other people at the time of the crush and she didn’t want to break up his marriage. But it’s Travolta, apparently, who has a special place in her heart.

Kristen Stewart, here with “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer, is in high gear promoting “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” But that doesn’t mean she’s blabbing uncharacteristically freely. Stewart hit the “Today” show Wednesday for a sit-down with the gang, and after some chat about the film and especially her character Bella Swan’s transition from human to vampire, she spoke publicly about her relationship with Robert Pattinson for the first time since the cheating scandal earlier this year.

Miley Cyrus’ wedding planning isn’t too far along, but she has procured one of those wedding-planning books, she said Thursday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” And boy, she admitted, she had no idea about how many decisions will need to be made. “Like, I don’t care what color the napkins are, to be honest,” said the bride-to-be, who got engaged to Liam Hemsworth at the end of May.

Brooke Burke-Charvet, co-host of “Dancing With the Stars,” has thyroid cancer and is looking at surgery, she announced Thursday in a video to her fans. “I’m going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck,” the 41-year-old mother of four says, making a cutting gesture with her finger across her throat. “And I don’t get to just walk around and pretend like nothing happened or not follow up or not share it because it’s going to be pretty much dead center.”

When Steven Spielberg’s animated movie “The Adventures of Tintin” premiered last year at the AFI Fest, the filmmaker sent a taped message to the audience, passing along his regrets at not being able to attend. He was in Virginia at the time, busy making a little movie about our nation’s 16th president. Spielberg brought that film to the closing night of this year’s AFI Fest, screening “Lincoln” to a capacity crowd that rose to its feet when the 65-year-old director took the stage to introduce it. “What we wanted to do, more than anything else, is see Lincoln,” Spielberg told the audience. “Not to worship him, but to understand him close-up.”
