MUSIC
Many people know Philip Glass from his elegantly minimalist film scores for movies such as “Koyaanisqatsi,” “The Thin Blue Line” and “The Hours,” but he has also amassed a body of work that incorporates opera, concertos and other compositions. He’ll be sitting down at LACMA for an afternoon of intimate conversation and performances from his opera “Akhnaten,” the final showcase in a trilogy of portrait operas that began with “Einstein on the Beach.” Glass will be discussing his acclaimed work about the Pharaoh with Long Beach Opera Music Director Andreas Mitisek. Bing Theater at LACMA, 5905 Wilshire Blvd. 2 p.m. Sat. $25-$40. lacma.org. (323) 857-6000.
