‘West Side Story’ one-night theatrical screening, Blu-ray release

“West Side Story” is celebrating its 50th anniversary in a big way Wednesday. NCM Fathom and Turner Classic Movies is bringing back the newly restored movie version of the Leonard Bernstein-Stephen Sondheim musical to theaters around the country for one night only. The Blu-ray arrives Nov. 15, the same day three of the film’s stars, Rita Moreno and George Chakiris, who won supporting actor Oscars, and Russ Tamblyn will be honored with a hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, “West Side Story” won 10 Academy Awards, including director and best picture. For more information go to www.fathomevents.com.
