U2 among big-name acts to perform at 25th KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas

The band’s name is buried low on the press announcement for the 25th KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, stacked amid an alphabetical list of acts including Royal Blood, Alt J, Smashing Pumpkins, New Politics, Interpol and others. The word is easy to miss between Tears for Fears and Vance Joy, but there it is: U2.
The Irish mega-band, best known in 2014 for infiltrating the world’s iTunes catalog earlier in the year with its “Songs of Innocence,” will perform as part of KROQ-FM’s Almost Acoustic Christmas, its annual charity concert.
Occurring over two nights, Dec. 13 and Dec. 14, at the Forum in Inglewood, the event features rock’s biggest and most buzzing bands for a weekend of quickie sets. The station will announce the roster on the air this morning, but before that happens, Pop & Hiss has a peek.
Dec. 13: Bush, Fallout Boy, Incubus, Linkin Park, New Politics, Rise Against, Royal Blood, System of a Down and Walk the Moon.
Dec. 14: Alt-J, Imagine Dragons, Interpol, Modest Mouse, Smashing Pumpkins, Tears for Fears, U2, Vance Joy and Weezer.
It’s an impressive roster of rock acts, one that spans decades and movements from the ‘80s to the present.
Ticket details will be announced on KROQ this morning; we’ll update this post when they arrive. But for now, know that members of the station’s “street team” will get first dibs at tickets when they’re offered on Friday through Ticketmaster. For more info: www.kroq.com
