Jimmy Kimmel’s latest mean-tweet-palooza features Britney Spears

Is there anything more cathartic than voicing your distaste for a celebrity publicly in the Twittersphere? Maybe a nice week in Antigua, perhaps. But that costs a lot of money and expressing your displeasure at a major movie, TV or recording star costs nothing. Plus, it’s not like said famous person will ever actually read those words. Right?
Jimmy Kimmel has shown that not even the bubble of celebrity is thick enough to withstand the pinpricks of derision that burst from the beaks of Twitter. And on Thursday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” he subjected a whole new roster of celebrities to some brutal critiques.
Britney Spears has had her share of personal problems, but she didn’t seem too upset to read, “I feel like Britney Spears is stalking me [on] the radio. Quit forcing your suckage on me you tired hag.”
Lisa Kudrow seemed particularly delighted at the tweet directed at her, though we can’t print it or some of the others here.
Other celebs, such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Bob Newhart, seemed like they would need a good, long hug after taping their segments.
Adam Sandler, who should be no stranger to harsh criticism, seemed incensed that someone suggested he should become a meal for a visiting man-eating alien. He should be thrilled: that would be an amazing plot for one of his movies.
Twitter can hurt. But sometimes, it can help. Take it all in stride, Adam.
