Kentucky station reports prison break, shows picture of John Wayne

Even in 2014, “Rooster” Cogburn is wily.
Station WDKY Fox 56 in Lexington, Ky., reported Thursday night on a recent prison break by two inmates.
During the segment, the station showed the mugshots of the two inmates who escaped -- one was John Wayne as his Oscar-winning character U.S. Marshal “Rooster” Cogburn.
According to the station, the picture of the Cogburn character is the default for mugshots before they are uploaded. The mugshot of the actual inmate was mistakenly not uploaded for the 10 p.m. newscast, so viewers got to see the Duke instead.
Wayne played Cogburn in 1969’s “True Grit.” Wayne died in 1979.
