See that cigarette butt that just dropped out of the car in front of you? Chances are it’ll wash down a storm drain into the ocean and wind up on the beach. In fact, most litter covering the coast comes from miles away, like downtown and the valleys. During last year's Coastal Cleanup Day, volunteers picked up more than 10 tons of trash in just three hours. Here’s a look at the top five types of litter collected in select locations:
