Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes offshore near Vandenberg Air Force Base

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Saturday afternoon off the Santa Barbara County coast, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The surface temblor occurred at 1:11 p.m. Pacific time.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 22 miles from Vandenberg Air Force Base, 23 miles from Lompoc, 30 miles from Orcutt and 34 miles from Santa Maria.
In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
