Authorities have identified the victims of a fatal single-engine plane crash Saturday south of Bakersfield as a family of five from Gilroy.
The Kern County coroner’s office identified Jason Price, 42, as the pilot. Also killed were passengers Olga Price, 40; Olivia Price, 9; Mary Price, 10; and John Price, 14. All five died at the scene, officials said.
The victims’ bodies were recovered from the crash site in an orchard near Panama Lane and Buena Vista Road, said Sgt. Mark King of the Kern County Sheriff’s Department.
King said bad weather may have been a factor. A meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Hanford said it was rainy and cloudy in the area south of Bakersfield about the time the plane went off-radar.
