LAPD overtime for Made in America festival exceeds $475,000

The Made in America two-day music festival over the Labor Day weekend in downtown L.A. cost $475,570 in police overtime, according to a report expected to be presented to the Los Angeles Police Commission on Tuesday.
An August City Council motion requires the LAPD to provide biweekly overtime reports to the commission and to the city’s Budget and Finance Committee.
The department racked up $4.7 million in overtime during the two-week period in which the Made in America concert took place. Overtime costs unrelated to the festival during the Labor Day weekend totaled $459,550.
Overtime costs for the previous two-week period, Aug. 10 to 23, were $3.8 million. Overtime pay during the Fourth of July weekend totaled $542,290.
Live Nation, the festival promoter, agreed to pay the city of Los Angeles $500,000 for public services, including police. The company paid an additional $600,000 to Los Angeles County for sheriff’s services and the use of Grand Park.
Made in America, which was co-sponsored by rap mogul Shawn “Jay Z” Carter and Live Nation, drew more than 70,000 people.
