A 51-year-old man was arrested after he walked into the Hemet Police Department and told officers that he killed his mother, authorities said.
The man entered the Police Department at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday, according to a department news release. Officers went to the family’s residence in the 500 block of West Devonshire Avenue and found the man’s 77-year-old mother dead inside.
The investigation is ongoing, the news release said.
The Press-Enterprise identified the suspect as Danny Lee Giles. According to the Riverside County jail’s website, Giles was booked Thursday on suspicion of murder. He is being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta in lieu of $1-million bail, the website said.
