Man found dead in Mission Viejo apartment; listed as homicide

A man found dead inside a Mission Viejo apartment Sunday is being listed as a homicide victim, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
Signs point to a violent struggle involving the victim inside the Vista Real apartments on Los Altos, near the Shops at Mission Viejo.
The victim’s car, a 2006 Toyota Corolla with the California license plate #5ULA168, is missing, authorities said.
Armed with search warrants, investigators went to the building after getting a tip from a caller shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday. They later said a fight may have led to the man’s death.
An autopsy was completed Monday to determine the cause and time of death, but officials are not releasing details until next of kin are notified.
