Police give all-clear after suspicious package closes section of Sunset Strip

Streets around a major shopping center on the Sunset Strip were closed for several hours Wednesday as police investigated a suspicious package, but the area was reopened after no threat was found, authorities said.
Sunset Boulevard between Laurel Canyon and Crescent Heights boulevards in the Hollywood Hills West was closed before 8 a.m. after a suspicious package was reported in a parking lot, said LAPD Officer Jenny Houser.
The closure blocked about 200 feet of road in front of a Chevron gas station and 8000 Sunset, a shopping center that houses restaurants, coffee shops and hair salons.
Authorities ultimately determined that the package -- a bag with miscellaneous items inside -- was harmless.
