Letters: Leimert Park’s light-rail win

Re “MTA vote seals the deal for Leimert Park light-rail stop,” May 24
Hurray for the people of Leimert Park for getting a stop on the planned Crenshaw light-rail line — and for those of Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Mariachi Plaza, who previously won their own stations. Too bad that Los Angeles International Airport doesn’t have its own “community members” to do battle over the idiotic decision to avoid the airport again in planning station locations.
Years ago, whoever was in charge of building the Green Line apparently forgot that LAX existed. Now, thanks to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, LAX has again been ignored, as the route will have stations on Aviation Boulevard north and south of the airport’s main entrance. Maybe the name “Aviation” confused the decision-makers.
Other cities seem to realize that an international airport should be a hub in a transportation system.
