Letters: Toy guns shouldn’t be toys

Re “When toys are too real,” Nov. 5
Whether it shoots BBs or pellets — or whether it just looks like a real handgun or rifle — parents, educators and legislators should understand one thing: A guns is not a toy.
“Toy” guns are inappropriate. They can desensitize children to the real dangers of gun violence and can, sadly, contribute to the accidental loss of young lives.
Hopefully, the purchase of toys that promote creativity and cooperative play will be more abundant during the upcoming holiday season of peace.
