Readers React: Two ideas for keeping more cars out of Griffith Park

To the editor: I have two ideas for reducing traffic in Griffith Park. (“How do we open Griffith Park up to people, not cars?,” editorial, Jan. 26)
First, finish the too-high Target store at Sunset Boulevard and Western Avenue, but as a condition, install a roof-top observation deck for the tourists to view the Hollywood sign.
This Target not only has a dynamite view of the sign, but it’s on major transportation routes, has parking and won’t lose the view if the city adheres to its height limitations in the future. Plus, increasing traffic to the store could be a boon for business.
Second, make access to the park between the Greek Theatre and the top of Western Canyon limited to those cars with reservations via a smartphone app. Those without reservations can walk, bike or take a shuttle.
