Readers React: A self-adjusting minimum wage

To the editor: Why should workers at big hotels be paid a higher minimum wage than busboys, cooks, clerks and other non-hotel workers? Why isn’t there just a realistic minimum wage for all occupations? (“L.A. City Council approves minimum-wage hike for hotel workers,” Sept. 24)
The minimum wage we have is appalling. So is the necessity for such rigmarole, with so many people taking so much time to solve the problem each time enough pressure builds to demand change. Consider it a necessity to include a method to automatically change the wage, if.... (Fill in here what the change should be tied to.)
