Mystere

The hit Cirque du Soleil show “Mystère” was first performed on Dec. 25, 1993. In its 17-plus years at Treasure Island Resort & Casino, “Mystère” has been seen by about 9 million people and has been staged more than 8,000 times. That’s more even than “Cats” on Broadway, which is saying something.

The 90-minute show is a kaleidoscope of seemingly superhuman acrobatic feats, beautiful choreography and street-theater comedy, all carried out by the wonderfully strange inhabitants of very a mysterious world.

Crowd favorite Brian Dewhurst is the wild-maned and mischievous clown Brian Le Petit, who runs amok through the production, needling the audience and causing general chaos and confusion.

“Mystère” takes place in the 1,600-seat Mystère Theater. Directed by Franco Dragone, it has been updated a number of times over the years.

The show was Cirque’s first show with a permanent home — not just in Las Vegas but anywhere.
