Update: Goalie Frederik Andersen recently got new pads but hasn’t had much use for them. He’s made one start since the Christmas break as John Gibson has taken over in net.

“You want to be ready for the opportunity when you get it,” Andersen said. “Gibby’s been playing well. It’s not my time right now but I’m working hard for whenever that is.”

Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau was noncommittal but figures to give Andersen a start in the last half of this eight-game stretch at home.

Ottawa hasn’t played since Sunday’s 7-1 loss to Washington in which Alex Ovechkin scored his 500th and 501st career goals. It was the Senators’ first six-goal loss since 2011.

Erik Karlsson is the NHL’s highest-scoring defenseman with 45 points and has 15 power-play assists. Former Ducks winger Bobby Ryan is tied for second on the team with 13 goals. Goalie Craig Anderson is expected to go for his 200th win.
