Marcus LoVett Jr., a former standout guard from Southern California, is taking classes at St. John’s and awaiting to see if he’s cleared by the NCAA to play this season as a freshman.
To make it this far is a tribute to LoVett, who attended Burbank Providence for two years, then San Gabriel Academy, then Morgan Park in Chicago. He’s worked very hard in the classroom.
“I’m proud of him,” his father, Marcus Sr., said. “He’s done everything he’s supposed to be doing. He sounds happy.”
As a basketball talent, LoVett averaged 31 points his freshman year at Providence.
