Boys’ basketball: Mario Soto appears to be leaving Mater Dei

Santa Ana Mater Dei appears on the verge of losing a second talented varsity basketball player, with 6-foot-5 Mario Soto transferring.
Soto is no longer listed on Mater Dei’s roster on MaxPreps. He has been an important contributor for the Monarchs, though he was injured last season.
He interviewed on Friday at Saddleback Valley Christian, but nothing has been finalized.
Earlier, the Monarchs lost center Jayce Johnson to JSerra.
