Boys’ basketball: SoCal teams begin play in Las Vegas in Tarkanian Classic

Top teams from Southern California began play Wednesday in the Platinum Division of the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.
Redondo rallied for a 69-61 victory over Sheldon. Morgan Means had 16 points, eight assists and nine rebounds. Leland Green added 12 points and Ryse Williams 10.
Long Beach Poly was beaten by Colorado Overland, 62-43. Corona Centennial defeated Nevada Desert Pines, 63-59. Jordan Griffin led Cenennial with 18 points. Utah Bingham defeated Westchester, 61-56. Texas Prestonwood defeated L.A. Cathedral, 78-62.
In the Gold Division, Pasadena defeat Utah Orem, 67-66. Maranatha lost to Sagemont, 52-35. Villa Park defeated Liberty, 88-55.
In the North Orange County tournament, Ayala improved to 6-0 with a 71-52 win over Cerritos. Miles President scored 23 points and Austen Awosika added 22 points. Buena Park upset La Mirada, 62-60.
Edison improved to 7-1 with a 78-73 win over San Clemente. Randall Walker scored 33 points.
Los Alamitos defeated Bullard, 87-47.
In a Coliseum League game, Dorsey defeated Locke, 107-24. Tommie Groce scored 24 points and Deryck Harvey added 23 points.
Central City defeated Annenberg, 60-37. Joel Finney scored 28 points.
