Boys’ basketball: Top 6-11 sophomore Marvin Bagley III set to join Sierra Canyon

Just as transfer students become eligible on Monday, Sierra Canyon Coach Ty Nichols made big news on Saturday by announcing that 6-foot-11 sophomore Marvin Bagley III, considered one of the top basketball players from the class of 2018, will be joining the Trailblazers.
“We’re excited,” Nichols said.
He played as a freshman for Tempe Corona del Sol.
Then he transfered to the Hillcrest Basketball Academy.
Nichols said paperwork will be submitted to the CIF Southern Section seeking eligibility approval.
Sierra Canyon is 9-1 and ranked No. 2 by The Times behind unbeaten Chino Hills.
It already has two highly regarded big men in juniors Ira Lee and Cody Riley. If Bagley sticks around for a couple of years, Sierra Canyon figures to be one of the top teams in the nation beyond this season.
