Football: Board approves replacement of turf field at Corona Centennial

The Board of Education for the Corona-Norco Unified School District gave approval on Tuesday night for Corona Centennial High School to replace its all-weather turf field.
The cost will be $178,766, according to Andrew Sterner, administrative director for the district’s support services. He said the district is receiving a discount and upgrade from FieldTurf on the usual replacement costs. The field is eight years old.
“We believe there was some premature wear,” he said.
There have been school districts around the state who needed to replace their all-weather fields because of defective material.
Still to be decided is when the field will be replaced. It should take around three weeks, Sterner said, and could come in August or October.
