Football: Cathedral-Downey winner could be headed to title game
- Share via
The opportunity to win a Southeast Division championship is there for the winner of Friday night’s quarterfinal game between Cathedral and visiting Downey.
The defeat suffered by No. 2-seeded La Mirada and the injury to St. Francis quarterback Jeremiah Martin has created an opportunity. The question is who’s going to take advantage?
Downey will be a strong test for Cathedral. Downey has a pair of productive running backs in Daevon Vigilant (1,515 yards rushing) and Justin Huff (1,087 yards).
Can Cathedral’s defense stop the run?
Cathedral sophomore quarterback Andrew Tovar is having a season to remember. Aided by a strong receiving corp, Tovar has passed for 3,297 yards and 42 touchdowns.
The survivor on Friday has a good chance to make it to the Southeast Division final.
